About the client
The National Mango Board (NMB) maintains industry databases used to manage mango import information in the United States. The platform at nmb-industrydatabase.org supports two distinct datasets: customs data received from U.S. Customs and a separate importer contact database. Records across both systems are linked by importer codes assigned by the state.
The challenge
NMB needed a front-end developer to connect a redesigned user interface - created by TMA+Peritus - with an existing backend database maintained by a separate developer. The application had to support reporting across customs and importer contact data, handle real-world data inconsistencies such as changing importer codes, and deliver a reliable interface for generating import reports by importer, pounds, assessments, and NMB district.
Our approach
Freshbyte recommended Drupal for the platform and implemented the approved mockups, building the front-end layer that connects the new UI to the backend. This included Ajax infrastructure with success, error, and loading handlers; UI-related functions such as popups, notifications, and validation; Ajax calls for all report types with data layer integration; and success callbacks that populate the interface. We also provided documentation and participated in team meetings and ongoing communication with TMAP and the backend developer.
The results
- Recommended Drupal as the technology foundation for the industry database platform.
- Implemented approved mockups provided by TMA+Peritus for the redesigned user interface.
- Built Ajax infrastructure with success, error, and loading handlers for reliable data interactions.
- Delivered UI functions including popups, notifications, and validation across the application.
- Integrated Ajax calls for all report types with the data layer and success callbacks that populate the UI.
- Provided documentation and collaborated closely with the design and backend teams throughout delivery.
